Focus Hispanic Young Driver Safety Program
The primary purpose of the program is to create awareness among youth between the ages of 17 and 20 about the perils of drinking, driving and speeding. In a nutshell, these young drivers will be reminded to use caution and exercise safety measures when driving. Hispanic students ranging from ages 17 to 20 attending some of the high schools in the City of Newark, will participate in a contest to develop a musical “jingle” appropriate for creating an awareness by using musical lyrics and utilizing graphics alerting them to the pitfalls inherent in drinking, driving and speeding which prematurely takes the lives of hundreds of young men and women throughout the State of New Jersey every year. New Jersey Network (NJN) Images/Imagenes will provide the technical support and will produce a “Hispanic Young Drivers Safety Program Video,” that will illustrate how to take safety measures while driving and the split second challenge young drivers face while being behind the wheel.
